Dr Shivashankar is a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience of over 24 years in the field of Psychiatry. He is registered with the General Medical Council on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is recognised under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act as having special experience in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders.

He is also a Second Opinion Appointed Doctor working for the Health Inspectorate Wales, and a Medical Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunals Wales. He has extensive input to education and training including having had roles of Royal College Tutor, Training Programme Director, Quality Lead, and in recent days, as the Head of School for Psychiatry, HEIW (Wales Deanery).

Dr Shivashankar offers assessment and management of a wide range of psychiatric conditions in the working age group including Adult ADHD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders including OCD and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.

He believes in patient centred evidence based practice, enabling patients and carers to actively involve and contribute in the collaborative decision making process and in their treatment journey.
